Supplies for the Baby Shower Decoration:
- tissue paper
- thin wire
- scissors
- colored cardstock papers
- sewing machine
- thread
- mini hole puncher
Step 1
Stack eight sheets of white tissue paper together. I used white for this to create a cloud effect but if you want to make it even more colorful, you can use any color you desire. Once you’ve done that, fold it in 1 1/2 inch sections accordion-style and set it aside.
Step 2
Cut two pieces of wire about 10″ long. Use one piece and twist it around the middle of the tissue with the ends going to one side. We’ll be using the ends to hang the “raindrops”.
Step 3
Now take the second wire and attach it to the first wire we twisted around the middle of the tissue. Twist to secure, leaving one long end of the wire. You should now have two short tails (from the first wire) and one long tail (from the second wire) like the picture above.
Step 4
Now let’s add more flare to our tissue pom poms. Round the edges of your tissue paper with scissors. Do it one both ends.
Step 5
Let’s make it a pom pom! Spread out the folded tissue paper in both ends like a fan and separate one sheet at a time. When you’ve reached the middle, flip it over and to the same. Once you’re done with both sides, flatten the top and the bottom for a more cloud-like effect.
Now for the raindrop chain!
Step 6
Print this raindrop template from Rock Scissor Paper or you can also make one yourself. Using the cut out pattern, make more raindrops with cardstock using different colors. You can cut as many raindrops as you like depending on how long you want it to be. We’ll be making 2 strands of raindrops per cloud or tissue pom pom.
Step 7
Grab your sewing machine and start sewing the raindrops into a long strand. You can use white or blue to maintain the cloud effect or you can also go crazy with other colors.
Note: To create a better effect, make your strands in various lengths.
Step 8
Now that you have your raindrop strands, time to attach it to your cloud. Take your puncher and punch a hole at the top of the first raindrop. Do it for all the strands you’ve created.
Step 9
Take your tissue pom pom cloud and using one of the two short wires, attach one of your strands by twisting the wire. Do it for the other one and you’re done! You can now hang it by using adhesive hooks or thumbtacks using the remaining long wire.
